Get an east Texas girl good and mad,and theres going to be hell to pay! Rachel will have her hands full for a long time to come. I found this one, the second book in the series, much the same way a few weeks ago. I guess my problem was that I never connected with anyone in the book so I could care less what happened. Overall, I really liked the book, but I wish there had been more about Cassidy, the baby. It takes a while to get used to, agreed Gabriel Too, giving the new recruit a soft pat on the shoulder. Add in a couple of guardian angels and you have a fun tale of good versus evil with a bit of the absurd added in for good measure. I guess my problem was that I never connected with anyone in the book so I could care less what happened.
There's never a dull moment when readers visit Dogwood County! Not even with holy water? Firstly, I picked this up without knowing it was the second book in a series I really hate it when that's not made clear on the cover! Sam has been sent to retrieve Kevin. We just watch and take notes. She can find plenty of evil forces right in east Texas, like the Mega-Mart that's driving her family's hardware store into the ground. When you're married to a demon but attracted to an angel, sparks will fly. She walked closer to the window and glanced down.
Frank the New finished rolling up his sleeves and started popping his knuckles. Frank the New scrunched his shoulders and folded in his wings so they flapped less conspicuously as they glided toward Earth. Not that most of the Dogwood residents knew their quaint country home happened to be the place where angels and demons fought it out for the souls of all mankind. I always mix those up. There were a number of parts that made me laugh, like the author's description of how the owner of a dive bar was constantly hoping one of his patrons would stoop so low as to completely destroy the place so he could collect the insurance and retire.
When Rachel discovers her missing husband is actually a demon inhabiting the body of her deceased spouse, she realizes a lot of Cassidy's unique skills are due to his half-demon lineage. Both angels could see through the roof, one of their many convenient angel powers, along with the ability to be invisible and hear the voice of God without shattering into a million pieces. Besides that, there were several spelling errors and discrepancies with the characterization of Azazel and Sam. I went to work for a marketing firm and discovered that most everyone else didn't stay until ten o'clock every night writing up their riveting story about grass fires. She shook the thought from her head and told herself not to panic.
She has worked as a journalist in Austin, and is now married and living in Chicago. Pan is the father of Rachel's one-year-old son Cassidy, and the half-demon child while not himself evil exhibits some very unusual mischievous behavior. I grew up in Mesquite, Texas, which for those of you who like livestock shows, is the home of the Mesquite Rodeo. She's consistently described as being strong and tough and fill of vim and vigour, and yet her actions before the story begins are those of a weak-willed, emotionally manipulative doormat. The street below came into view, home to about five houses spread out over a little hilly patch and separated by the occasional grazing cow.
All I can really say about this book is that I have read worse. Azazel's lover, Casiphia, wants to free him and sees Cassidy as the key to unlocking her lover's prison. Rachel Farnsworth used to be happy. I did enjoy this and will definitely read the first book and probably continue the series too. She wondered, briefly, if there was an explanation she was missing. This novel reads as a stand-alone with quirky characters who will keep readers engaged. From clumsy watcher angels to sloth demons to a frazzled mom who's realizing her child has supernatural abilities, this book has many delightfully engaging elements.
I would have to say this book isn't the best piece of edited material ever. She had a life with Kevin. It was snarky, fresh, campy, and sweet all at the same time. That makes her baby a half demon which explains why things have started combusting around him. I would have to say this book isn't the best piece of edited material ever. His demon dad knows the location of the tomb containing fallen angel Azazel.
Which, by the way, is a sore subject with the Big Guy. Her husband, Kevin, naturally slept through it, because he slept through everything. No, I don't own a pair of cowboy boots, although I do own quite an impressive collection of black shoes. The heroine is Rachel, a young mom whose husband's body has been taken over by a demon named Pan. If you purchased this book without a cover, you should be aware that it was reported to the publisher as unsold and destroyed. His white billowing robe swam on him and his ears were a little oversized, a combination that made him look a little like Dopey the Dwarf.
